Paralegal

  • Full-time, in-office
  • Monday to Friday – 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Position Summary
Stamford based matrimonial firm, Siegel, Colin & Kaufman, P.C seeks experienced paralegal assistant with demonstrated interest in family law to join its busy practice. Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, agreements and complex financial affidavits; tracking and organizing document production; hearing and trial preparation; and daily client contact.

The successful candidate will be capable of managing a heavy and complex workload that requires knowledge of family practice, including court procedures and filing requirements and adherence to internal compliance policies (e.g. conflicts of interest, privacy, deadline docketing, etc.). 

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, format and proofread a variety of legal and financial filings;
  • File management and organization (both digital and paper), including gathering relevant documents from the client and producing same. Establish and maintain client files in a timely manner using established firm protocols;
  • Coordinate and track attorney schedules regarding internal appointments and Court appearances.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Two to four years of experience at a law firm, family law practice preferred;
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills;
  • Outstanding client service and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to accurately draft and interpret legal documents;
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial documents;
  • Familiarity with Superior Court procedures and standing orders; 
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment;
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, discretion and decorum;
  • Able to anticipate and respond to attorney and client needs and follow-up when appropriate;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint), PDF scanning, Electronic Court Filing Systems, and ability to learn and use advanced software applications. Experience with Centerbase and NetDocs software preferred.

Receptionist

Boutique matrimonial law firm seeks a well-spoken and polished receptionist with personality and poise.  We are seeking candidates with 1+ years of experience in office services to join our team in Stamford CT.

Responsibilities include:

  • This individual serves an integral role as the “face/voice” of the firm for potential and existing clients.
  • Greet and welcome visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Maintain confidential information in a professional and trustworthy manner.
  • Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate person.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain the calendar for the office.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area and office.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination.
  • Copying, faxing, ordering lunches, maintaining conference rooms and kitchen area with particular care paid toward common areas. 
  • Order supplies, stocking break room & conference rooms
  • Overseeing office machine maintenance and repair
  • Assist in the coordination of special & administrative projects (i.e.: trial preparation, mediation binders and/or large scan and copy jobs).
  • Interact and assist effectively with partners, associates, staff, and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a receptionist or in a similar clerical role is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in using office equipment such as computers, printers, and fax machines.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment.
  • Proficient using computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Word Perfect, Adobe
