Divorce mediation allows couples to select their mediator, tell their stories and incur fewer expenses than going to court. In a recent edition of the Connecticut Law Tribune, we outlined how couples work with a mediator who is either an experienced matrimonial attorney or a retired family judge to reduce stress and come to an equitable divorce settlement. We show how the process can be a viable alternative to litigation, allowing the parties to draft a comprehensive document that addresses all their needs. A successful mediation ends the litigation and any appeal and allows the parties to move on with their lives.
